finally, blaseball is back! and we're back to a manic release schedule :-))
this was really my first foray into writing a proper full track without a guitar anywhere, and without even starting on a guitar. this track started and finished purely on my laptop, which is a definite first for me.
anyway, this one had a much longer gestation period than my previous tracks, so the lyrics aren't just "WEEE BLASEBALL", with this also partly being a vent about how, no matter what shit the tories pull, their poll numbers just keep climbing. i also managed to get the reference to The Coin saying "your fates are sealed" which i meant to get into unfair deal, so that was nice
a big thanks to fox for creating the demon goose plugin, which is a large part of the sound of this song. i don't think i could've made it as awesome without it.
lyrics
i’ve spent ten years sitting on this floor
staring at my note filled door
looking for some way to flip you off
and I find that every year
“nothing wrong, all happy here”
so why’d you say that our fates are sealed
so give us some way of finding out
what we can do, what it’s all about
cos I’ve heard whispers on the wind
that this ain’t real, it’s for our sins
remember those who died in flame
if it’s me next, don’t forget my name
remember those who are washed away
just please make sure it’s not in vain
it’s funny how it all goes wrong
when nothing’s up, the threat is gone
the evil god has had its day
unless of course it’s not that fair
say what are you doing there?
look at how they have their fun
so give us some way of finding out
what we can do, what it’s all about
cos I’ve heard whispers on the wind
that this ain’t real, it’s for our sins
remember those who died in flame
if it’s me next, don’t forget my name
remember those who are washed away
just please make sure it’s not in vain
why are we still burning? Why are we still drowning? (x6)
so give us some way of finding out
what we can do, what it’s all about
cos I’ve heard whispers on the wind
that this ain’t real, it’s for our sins
so give us some way of finding out
what we can do, what it’s all about
cos I’ve heard whispers on the wind
that this ain’t real, it’s for our sins
remember those who died in flame
if it’s me next, don’t forget my name
remember those who are washed away
just please make sure it’s not in vain

Look we're in a pandemic and I, for one, am still too careful to go to live music. The Garages have fixed that not only by putting on a "live" performance, but by sending out the albums. I love the pixies album from a Chapel Hill show because I was there, and I love this for the same reason. mightymur
